NOX1

Description

The NOX1 (NADPH oxidase 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome X.

NOX1 is an enzyme encoded by the NOX1 gene in humans. It is a homolog of the catalytic subunit of the superoxide-generating NADPH oxidase of phagocytes, gp91phox. There are two transcript variants for this gene, encoding different isoforms.

NOX1 is a NADPH oxidase that generates superoxide radicals from molecular oxygen using NADPH as an electron donor.

NOX1 is also known as GP91-2, MOX1, NOH-1, NOH-1L, NOH1.
