NOMO2
Description
The NOMO2 (NODAL modulator 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 16.
NOMO2 is part of the multi-pass translocon (MPT) complex. The MPT complex helps to insert multi-pass membrane proteins into cell membranes. It takes over from the SEC61 complex after the first few transmembrane segments of a protein have been inserted. The MPT complex then blocks the SEC61 complex's lateral gate, which allows the insertion of the remaining transmembrane regions.
