NOLC1

Description

The NOLC1 (nucleolar and coiled-body phosphoprotein 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 10.

NOLC1 is a gene that encodes the nucleolar phosphoprotein p130 in humans.

NOLC1 acts as a regulator of RNA polymerase I, connecting it with enzymes involved in ribosomal processing and modification, impacting ribosomal biogenesis. It is essential for neural crest specification, associating with TCOF1 and influencing the translational program in differentiating cells. NOLC1 plays a role in nucleologenesis, potentially through its involvement in maintaining the structural integrity of the nucleolar fibrillar center and dense fibrillar component. It exhibits intrinsic GTPase and ATPase activities.

NOLC1 is also known as NOPP130, NOPP140, NS5ATP13, P130, Srp40.
