NGRN

Description

The NGRN (neugrin, neurite outgrowth associated) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 15.

NGRN plays a crucial role in the formation of mitochondrial ribosomes. It acts as part of a complex protein-RNA unit that includes RCC1L, RPUSD3, RPUSD4, TRUB2, FASTKD2, and 16S mitochondrial ribosomal RNA (16S mt-rRNA). This complex regulates the amount of 16S mt-rRNA and is essential for the production of key components of the oxidative phosphorylation system within mitochondria.

NGRN is also known as DSC92.
