SLC30A7

Description

The SLC30A7 (solute carrier family 30 member 7) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 1.

Zinc transporter 7 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the SLC30A7 gene.

Zinc transporter 7 (ZnT-7) mediates the movement of zinc ions from the cytosol into the lumen of organelles within the secretory pathway, playing a crucial role in maintaining zinc ion homeostasis in this cellular compartment. This function is vital for the proper activation and folding of enzymes like alkaline phosphatases.

SLC30A7 is also known as ZHS, ZNT7, ZnT-7, ZnTL2.
