RPL35A : ribosomal protein L35a


Description

The RPL35A (ribosomal protein L35a) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 3.

The RPL35A gene contains instructions for creating one of the approximately 80 different ribosomal proteins. These proteins are part of the ribosomes, which are cellular structures that process genetic instructions to make proteins. Each ribosome has two parts: a large subunit and a small subunit. RPL35A is found in the large subunit. The exact functions of RPL35A and other ribosomal proteins within the subunits are not entirely clear. Some ribosomal proteins are involved in ribosome assembly or stability, while others help with the core function of building new proteins. Research suggests that some ribosomal proteins may have additional roles, such as participating in chemical signaling pathways within cells, regulating cell division, and controlling programmed cell death (apoptosis).

RPL35A is a component of the large ribosomal subunit, which is responsible for protein synthesis within cells. It is essential for the proliferation and survival of hematopoietic cells.
