The ITSN2 (intersectin 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 2.

Intersectin-2 is a protein encoded by the ITSN2 gene in humans. It resides in the cytoplasm and contains SH3 domains. Intersectin-2 is a member of a protein family involved in clathrin-mediated endocytosis. It is believed to regulate the formation of clathrin-coated vesicles and may play a role in the induction of T cell antigen receptor (TCR) endocytosis. Multiple transcript variants have been identified for this gene, leading to three distinct isoforms. Additional variants have been found but their full length nature has not been determined. Intersectin-2 interacts with the Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome protein.

Intersectin-2 is an adapter protein that acts as a link between the endocytic membrane traffic and the actin assembly machinery. It plays a role in the formation of clathrin-coated vesicles (CCPs) and their maturation, including invagination and budding. It is involved in the endocytosis of integrin beta-1 (ITGB1) and transferrin receptor (TFR). Furthermore, Intersectin-2 contributes to dendrite formation in melanocytes.
