FXYD2

Description

The FXYD2 (FXYD domain containing ion transport regulator 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 11.

The FXYD2 gene creates a protein called the gamma subunit of the sodium/potassium-transporting ATPase. This protein is part of a family that shares a specific sequence of amino acids. FXYD2 is thought to influence the activity of the sodium/potassium-transporting ATPase, likely by creating ion channels. Mutations in the FXYD2 gene can lead to low magnesium levels in the kidneys.

FXYD2 is also known as ATP1G1, HOMG2.
