TCTN2

Description

The TCTN2 (tectonic family member 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 12.

TCTN2 is a component of the tectonic-like complex, which is situated at the transition zone of primary cilia. This complex acts as a barrier, preventing the diffusion of transmembrane proteins between the cilia and plasma membranes. TCTN2 is also thought to be necessary for the transduction of hedgehog signaling (based on its similarity to other proteins).

TCTN2 is also known as C12orf38, JBTS24, MKS8, TECT2.
