SLC36A2

Description

The SLC36A2 (solute carrier family 36 member 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 5.

The human SLC36A2 gene encodes a protein known as proton-coupled amino acid transporter 2. This transporter is responsible for carrying small amino acids, including glycine, alanine, and proline. It also transports D-enantiomers of these amino acids and specific amino acid derivatives, such as gamma-aminobutyric acid. Mutations in the SLC36A2 gene are linked to Iminoglycinuria.

SLC36A2 is also known as PAT2, TRAMD1.
