GCM2

Description

The GCM2 (glial cells missing transcription factor 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 6.

The human gene GCM2 encodes the protein chorion-specific transcription factor GCMb. The GCMb protein and its mammalian homologs contain a conserved N-terminal GCM motif that has DNA-binding activity. The Drosophila gene 'glial cells missing' (gcm) is thought to act as a binary switch between neuronal and glial cell determination.

GCM2 is also known as FIH2, GCMB, HRPT4, hGCMb.
