DNAH1
Description
The DNAH1 gene provides instructions for making a protein called dynein heavy chain 1. This protein is a component of the dynein motor complex, which is essential for the movement of cilia and flagella. Cilia are tiny hair-like structures found on the surface of many cells, playing crucial roles in sensory perception, fluid movement, and development. Flagella, longer and whip-like, are responsible for the motility of sperm cells. Mutations in DNAH1 can disrupt the function of these structures, leading to a range of developmental and physiological problems.
