Description

The ALB gene provides instructions for making albumin, a protein that plays a crucial role in maintaining fluid balance in the bloodstream, transporting hormones and fatty acids, and preventing blood clots. It‘s produced primarily by the liver and is one of the most abundant proteins in human blood. Mutations in the ALB gene can disrupt albumin production, leading to various health problems.
