NELFA

Description

The NELFA (negative elongation factor complex member A) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 4.

NELFA is a crucial component of the NELF complex, which plays a role in inhibiting the elongation of transcription by RNA polymerase II. This complex collaborates with the DSIF complex to induce transcriptional pausing. The P-TEFb kinase complex counteracts the NELF complex, effectively regulating the process.

NELFA is also known as NELF-A, P/OKcl.15, WHSC2.
