NEAT1

Description

The NEAT1 (nuclear paraspeckle assembly transcript 1) is a ncRNA gene located on chromosome 11.

NEAT1, also known as VINC or MEN epsilon RNA, is a long non-coding RNA transcribed from the multiple endocrine neoplasia locus. It is found in the nucleus and forms paraspeckles, nuclear structures involved in gene regulation and stress response. NEAT1 interacts with the protein P54nrb (NONO) and is essential for paraspeckle formation. Two isoforms, NEAT1_1 and NEAT1_2, exist due to alternative 3'-end processing. While mice lacking Neat1 exhibit no major external abnormalities, they do show reduced fertility and lactation defects in females.

NEAT1 is also known as LINC00084, NCRNA00084, TP53LC15, TncRNA, VINC.
