NAV2

Description

The NAV2 (neuron navigator 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 11.

NAV2 is a protein encoded by the NAV2 gene in humans. All-trans retinoic acid (atRA), a vitamin A metabolite, is crucial for neuronal development, including neurite outgrowth, and NAV2 is an atRA-responsive gene. It is also thought to play a role in cellular growth and migration. The NAV2 gene has multiple isoform variants and is highly expressed in the brain. It has been linked to Alzheimer's disease and age-related phenotypes, suggesting that further research on NAV2 could be crucial in understanding the pathophysiology of these conditions. The gene contains 50 introns and 38 exons.

NAV2 is also known as HELAD1, POMFIL2, RAINB1, STEERIN2, UNC53H2.
