NAB2

Description

The NAB2 (NGFI-A binding protein 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 12.

NAB2 is a protein encoded by the NAB2 gene in humans. It belongs to the family of NGFI-A binding (NAB) proteins, which regulate gene expression in the nucleus. NAB2 can repress or activate transcription induced by some members of the EGR (early growth response) family of transcription factors. NAB2 interacts with other EGR or NAB proteins through a conserved N-terminal domain and represses transcription through two C-terminal domains. It interacts with the NuRD complex, which is involved in chromatin remodeling and histone deacetylation. Some alternatively spliced transcript variants of NAB2 have been identified, but their function is not fully understood. Fusions between NAB2 and STAT6 genes have been identified in solitary fibrous tumors.

NAB2 is also known as MADER.
