NAA40

Description

The NAA40 (N-alpha-acetyltransferase 40, NatD catalytic subunit) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 11.

NAA40 is an N-alpha-acetyltransferase that specifically acetylates the N-terminal residues of histones H4 and H2A. It exhibits a high degree of selectivity for these histones and recognizes the 'Ser-Gly-Arg-Gly sequence' within their N-termini. This activity has been linked to its role as a negative regulator of apoptosis. Additionally, NAA40 may be involved in hepatic lipid metabolism, although this function requires further investigation.

NAA40 is also known as NAT11, NatD, PATT1, hNatD.
