Description

The NAA30 (N-alpha-acetyltransferase 30, NatC catalytic subunit) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 14.

NAA30 is a catalytic subunit of the N-terminal acetyltransferase C (NatC) complex. It is responsible for attaching acetyl groups to the N-terminal methionine residues of specific peptides, particularly those starting with Met-Leu-Ala or Met-Leu-Gly. This acetylation process is crucial for the proper localization and function of ARL8B, a protein involved in lysosomal activity, suggesting that ARL8B is a target of the NatC complex.

NAA30 is also known as C14orf35, MAK3, Mak3p, NAT12, NAT12P.
