N4BP3

Description

The N4BP3 (NEDD4 binding protein 3) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 5.

N4BP3 plays a crucial role in the antiviral innate immune response. It interacts with MAVS, a key signaling molecule, and enhances its ubiquitination, thereby strengthening the interaction between MAVS and TRAF2, a crucial component in the signaling pathway. This results in a more robust antiviral response. Furthermore, N4BP3 contributes to the proper development of the nervous system. It is involved in the formation of nerve fibers (axons and dendrites) during cranial nerve development and may also be important for the migration of neural crest cells, which give rise to various tissues including parts of the eye, brain, and cartilage.

N4BP3 is also known as LZTS4.
