MYRF

Description

The MYRF (myelin regulatory factor) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 11.

Myelin Regulatory Factor (MYRF) acts as a precursor to a transcription factor. It undergoes autocatalytic cleavage, releasing the N-terminal component of MYRF, which specifically activates the transcription of myelin genes in the central nervous system (CNS).

MYRF is also known as 11orf9, C11orf9, CUGS, MMERV, MRF, Ndt80, pqn-47.
