MYO18A

Description

The MYO18A (myosin XVIIIA) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 17.

Myosin-XVIIIa is a protein that in humans is encoded by the MYO18A gene.

Myosin-XVIIIa (MYO18A) is involved in a variety of cellular processes, including Golgi membrane trafficking, cell migration, and immune response. It links Golgi membranes to the cytoskeleton and contributes to vesicle budding from the Golgi. MYO18A interacts with LURAP1 and CDC42BPA/CDC42BPB to regulate actomyosin retrograde flow, which is essential for cell protrusion and migration. It also plays a role in maintaining cell-to-cell contact and regulates the trafficking, expression, and activation of innate immune receptors on macrophages. MYO18A acts as a receptor for surfactant-associated protein A (SFTPA1/SP-A) and helps internalize and clear SFTPA1-opsonized S.aureus by alveolar macrophages. It also enhances natural killer cell cytotoxicity.

MYO18A is also known as MAJN, MYSPDZ, SP-R210, SPR210, TIAF1.
