MXRA5

Description

The MXRA5 (matrix remodeling associated 5) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome X.

MXRA5 is a human protein encoded by the MXRA5 gene. It belongs to the matrix-remodelling associated proteins and contains leucine-rich repeats and immunoglobulin-like domains similar to perlecan. The gene has a pseudogene on chromosome Y. Mutations in MXRA5 are frequently observed in non-small cell lung carcinoma.

MXRA5 plays a protective role in the kidney by inhibiting inflammation and fibrosis. It achieves this by reducing the production of chemokines, fibronectin, and collagen in response to TGF-beta1 and pro-inflammatory signals.

MXRA5 is also known as -.
