MS4A3

Description

The MS4A3 (membrane spanning 4-domains A3) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 11.

MS4A3 is a protein encoded by the MS4A3 gene in humans. It belongs to the membrane-spanning 4A gene family, characterized by shared structural features and unique expression patterns in hematopoietic cells and nonlymphoid tissues. MS4A3 likely participates in signal transduction and may function as a subunit in receptor complexes. The gene is located at 11q12, within a cluster of related family members. Alternative splicing can generate multiple transcript variants, although not all have been fully characterized. MS4A3 has been shown to interact with CDKN3.

MS4A3 plays a role in regulating the G1-S cell cycle transition. It directly binds to cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor 3 (CDKN3/KAP), modulating the phosphorylation levels of cyclin-dependent kinase 2 (CDK2).

MS4A3 is also known as CD20L, HTM4.
