MLIP

Description

The MLIP (muscular LMNA interacting protein) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 6.

MLIP may refer to: Muscular LMNA-interacting protein also know as Cardiac Isl1-interacting protein, Muscular-enriched A-type laminin-interacting protein.

MLIP is crucial for the development of muscle cells (myoblasts) into mature muscle fibers (myotubes). It likely plays a role in regulating genes involved in muscle development. MLIP is also involved in the heart's response to stress, helping to regulate pathways related to cell growth and survival. It contributes to maintaining normal heart function and protecting against heart enlargement (hypertrophy). Additionally, MLIP binds to DNA and may act as a co-factor for other proteins that control gene expression, potentially repressing the activity of ISL1 and MYOCD.

MLIP is also known as C6orf142, CIP, MMCKR.
