MIR4260

Description

The MIR4260 (microRNA 4260) is a ncRNA gene located on chromosome 1.

This gene encodes a microRNA.

This gene encodes a microRNA. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small non-coding RNAs that regulate gene expression post-transcriptionally. miRNAs are processed from hairpin-shaped precursor transcripts that are cleaved by the RNase III enzyme Drosha in the nucleus. The resulting precursor miRNA is then exported to the cytoplasm where it is further processed by another RNase III enzyme, Dicer. The mature miRNA is incorporated into a protein complex known as RISC (RNA-induced silencing complex) and targets mRNAs for cleavage or translational repression.

MIR4260 is also known as -.
