MICB

Description

The MICB (MHC class I polypeptide-related sequence B) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 6.

MICB, encoded by the MICB gene within the MHC locus, is a protein related to MHC class I. It shares a similar domain structure, consisting of an external α1α2α3 domain, a transmembrane segment, and a C-terminal cytoplasmic tail. MICB is a stress-induced ligand for the NKG2D receptor. The heat shock stress pathway regulates MICB expression, as MICB transcription is controlled by a promoter heat shock element.

MICB is also known as PERB11.2.
