MICALL1
Description
The MICALL1 (MICAL like 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 22.
MICALL1, also known as MICAL-like 1, is a human gene.
MICALL1 is a lipid-binding protein with a preference for phosphatidic acid, a lipid found in recycling endosome membranes. It likely acts as a downstream effector of Rab proteins on these membranes, recruiting other proteins to regulate membrane tubulation. It might be involved in a later stage of receptor-mediated endocytosis, potentially regulating the trafficking of endocytosed EGF receptors. Alternatively, it could regulate the slow recycling of endocytosed proteins back to the plasma membrane. There is also evidence suggesting an indirect role in neurite outgrowth.
MICALL1 is also known as MICAL-L1, MIRAB13.
