MFAP2

Description

The MFAP2 (microfibril associated protein 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 1.

MFAP2 is a protein encoded by the MFAP2 gene. It is a major antigen of elastin-associated microfibrils and is a candidate for involvement in the etiology of inherited connective tissue diseases. The MFAP2 gene encodes two transcripts with two alternatively spliced 5' untranslated exons. These two transcripts contain the same eight coding exons, and therefore, encode the same protein.

MFAP2 is a component of the elastin-associated microfibrils.

MFAP2 is also known as MAGP, MAGP-1, MAGP1.
