SSR4
Description
The SSR4 (signal sequence receptor subunit 4) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome X.
The SSR4 gene encodes the Translocon-associated protein subunit delta (TRAP-delta), which is involved in protein secretion. SSR4 is located on the X chromosome in the Xq28 region, arranged head-to-head with the IDH3G gene. These two genes share a bidirectional promoter located between them. SSR4 consists of six exons and spans approximately 70 kb. While alternative splicing of exon 5 has not been observed in humans, transcript variants lacking this exon have been found in Xenopus laevis and Mus musculus.
SSR4 is also known as CDG1Y, TRAPD.
