KCTD17
Description
The KCTD17 (potassium channel tetramerization domain containing 17) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 22.
KCTD17 acts as a substrate-adapter for CUL3-RING ubiquitin ligase complexes, mediating the ubiquitination and subsequent proteasomal degradation of TCHP. TCHP is a protein involved in suppressing ciliogenesis, so KCTD17's action positively regulates ciliogenesis by promoting axoneme extension. KCTD17 may also play a role in calcium ion homeostasis within the endoplasmic reticulum.
