Description
The Transient Receptor Potential Melastatin 6 (TRPM6) gene encodes a protein that functions as a magnesium channel, playing a vital role in maintaining magnesium balance within the body. Located on chromosome 9, TRPM6 is predominantly expressed in the small intestine, where it facilitates magnesium absorption from the diet. It also contributes to magnesium reabsorption in the kidneys and is involved in the regulation of blood pressure and insulin sensitivity.
