GSC

Description

The GSC (goosecoid homeobox) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 14.

GSC may refer to: The homeobox protein goosecoid, a crucial regulator of embryonic development.

GSC regulates the expression of chordin (CHRD), a protein involved in embryonic development. It may also play a role in spatial organization within specific embryonic regions and cell lineages during organ formation. Working together with NKX3-2, GSC contributes to defining the structure of the middle ear, being essential for the development of the tympanic ring. It is likely involved in the complex networks that control the development of neural crest cells and mesoderm cell types in mammals.

GSC is also known as GSC1, SAMS.
