GPC6

Description

The GPC6 (glypican 6) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 13.

Glypican-6 is a protein encoded by the GPC6 gene in humans. It belongs to the glypican family of glycosylphosphatidylinositol-anchored heparan sulfate proteoglycans. Glypicans are involved in regulating cell growth and division. Glypican 6 is thought to act as a coreceptor on the cell surface for various molecules, including growth factors, extracellular matrix proteins, proteases, and anti-proteases.

GPC6 is also known as OMIMD1.
