CCDC115

Description

The CCDC115 (coiled-coil domain containing 115) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 2.

CCDC115 is an accessory component of the vacuolar (V)-ATPase protein pump, which is involved in intracellular iron homeostasis. In aerobic conditions, CCDC115 is required for intracellular iron homeostasis, activating Fe(2+) prolyl hydroxylase (PHD) enzymes. This leads to HIF1A hydroxylation and subsequent proteasomal degradation. CCDC115 is also necessary for endolysosomal acidification and lysosomal degradation. It may also play a role in Golgi homeostasis. (PubMed:26833332, PubMed:28296633)

CCDC115 is also known as CDG2O, ccp1.
