MED7

Description

The MED7 (mediator complex subunit 7) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 5.

MED7 is a human gene encoding an enzyme involved in gene transcription. The protein encoded by MED7 is a subunit of the CRSP (cofactor required for SP1 activation) complex, which, along with TFIID, is essential for efficient activation by SP1. This protein is also part of other multisubunit complexes, such as thyroid hormone receptor-(TR-) associated proteins, which interact with TR and facilitate TR function on DNA templates in conjunction with initiation factors and cofactors.

MED7 is also known as ARC34, CRSP33, CRSP9.
