LSAMP

Description

The LSAMP (limbic system associated membrane protein) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 3.

LSAMP plays a key role in guiding and shaping the connections between neurons in the brain, specifically within the limbic system. It helps direct the growth of developing nerve fibers (axons) and refines the connections in mature neural networks. This protein is crucial for the proper development of the hippocampal mossy fiber projection, a specific pathway important for learning and memory.

LSAMP is also known as IGLON3, LAMP.
