LRRC4

Description

The LRRC4 (leucine rich repeat containing 4) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 7.

LRRC4, also known as Leucine-rich repeat-containing protein 4, is a protein encoded by the LRRC4 gene in humans. Its expression is significantly reduced in primary brain tumors. While the exact function of LRRC4 is unknown, it has been identified as a potential pathogenic factor in the neurogenic inflammation associated with rosacea.

LRRC4 is a synaptic adhesion protein that regulates the formation of excitatory synapses by recruiting pre- and postsynaptic proteins. It plays a crucial role in organizing the lamina/pathway-specific differentiation of dendrites and is essential for auditory synaptic responses. LRRC4 also appears to be involved in the suppression of glioma.

LRRC4 is also known as NAG14, NGL-2.
