LPPR2

LDL Particle Profile (LPPR2)

Description:

LDL particle profile (LPPR2) is a blood test that measures the number and size of LDL (low-density lipoprotein) particles in a person's blood. LDL cholesterol, commonly known as "bad cholesterol," is a type of fat carried by LDL particles. These particles can accumulate in the arteries, forming plaques that can narrow or block blood flow.

Associated Diseases:

High levels of LDL particles and small, dense LDL particles are linked to an increased risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD), including:

  • Heart attack
  • Stroke
  • Peripheral artery disease (PAD)
  • Atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries)

Did you Know ?

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), nearly half of American adults have high levels of LDL particles. This makes LPPR2 an important screening tool for individuals at risk of CVD.
