CDKN2A mutations are found in about 2 to 3 percent of melanoma cases.The CDKN2A gene, located on chromosome 9p21, encodes two tumor suppressor proteins, p16INK4a and p14ARF, which play critical roles in regulating cell cycle progression and tumor suppression.
