LOH12CR1
Description of LOH12CR1
What is LOH12CR1?
LOH12CR1 is a tumor suppressor gene located on the long arm of chromosome 12. It encodes a protein called chromodomain-helicase-DNA-binding protein 1 (CHD1), which is involved in chromatin remodeling and DNA repair. Chromatin remodeling is the process by which the DNA is packaged and unpacked to allow for gene expression and DNA repair.
Mutations in LOH12CR1
Mutations in LOH12CR1 can lead to the loss of CHD1 function, which can result in genomic instability and the development of cancer. LOH12CR1 mutations have been identified in a variety of cancers, including breast cancer, prostate cancer, and lung cancer.
Associated Diseases
- Breast cancer
- Prostate cancer
- Lung cancer
- Other types of cancer
Did you Know ?
According to a study published in the journal Nature Genetics, LOH12CR1 mutations are found in approximately 10% of breast cancers.
