LNX1

Description

The LNX1 (ligand of numb-protein X 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 4.

LNX1, the human gene encoding the E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase LNX, plays a significant role in protein degradation. It has been shown to interact with several proteins, including NAGK, NUMB, and PAFAH1B3.

LNX1, also known as E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase LNX, acts as a molecular tag for protein degradation. It specifically targets and ubiquitinates two isoforms of NUMB (p66 and p72), leading to their breakdown by the proteasome. This process involves the transfer of ubiquitin molecules from an E2 enzyme to the target protein. Interestingly, LNX1 does not ubiquitinate other NUMB isoforms (p71 and p65).

LNX1 is also known as LNX, MPDZ, PDZRN2.
