LILRB5
Description
The LILRB5 (leukocyte immunoglobulin like receptor B5) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 19.
LILRB5 is a protein encoded by the LILRB5 gene in humans. It belongs to the leukocyte immunoglobulin-like receptor (LIR) family, located in a gene cluster on chromosome 19q13.4. LILRB5 contains two or four extracellular immunoglobulin domains, a transmembrane domain, and two to four cytoplasmic immunoreceptor tyrosine-based inhibitory motifs (ITIMs). Several other LIR subfamily B receptors are expressed on immune cells, where they bind to MHC class I molecules on antigen-presenting cells and inhibit immune responses. This gene has multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms.
LILRB5 acts as a receptor for class I MHC antigens.
LILRB5 is also known as CD85C, LIR-8, LIR8.
