LCOR

Description

The LCOR (ligand dependent nuclear receptor corepressor) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 10.

LCOR (Ligand-dependent corepressor) is a protein encoded by the LCOR gene in humans. It serves as a transcriptional corepressor, widely expressed in both fetal and adult tissues. LCOR binds to activated nuclear receptors through a specific LxxLL motif, also known as a nuclear receptor (NR) box.

LCOR can act as a transcription activator, binding to DNA sequences with the pattern 5'-CCCTATCGATCGATCTCTACCT-3'. However, its primary role is as a repressor, inhibiting the activation of transcription by various nuclear receptors. These receptors include ESR1, ESR2, NR3C1, PGR, RARA, RARB, RARG, RXRA, and VDR.

LCOR is also known as C10orf12, MLR2.
