KRTAP6-3

Description

The KRTAP6-3 (keratin associated protein 6-3) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 21.

KRTAP6-3 is a hair keratin-associated protein (KRTAP) that contributes to the formation of a strong and resilient hair shaft by forming a matrix around hair keratin intermediate filaments. It achieves this through extensive disulfide bond cross-linking with cysteine residues in hair keratins. KRTAP6-3 is classified as a high-sulfur and high-glycine-tyrosine keratin.

KRTAP6-3 is also known as KAP6.3.
