KRTAP4-4

Description

The KRTAP4-4 (keratin associated protein 4-4) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 17.

KRTAP4-4 plays a crucial role in hair shaft formation by interacting with hair keratins. It is part of the interfilamentous matrix, a network of proteins that surrounds keratin filaments within the hair cortex. This protein, rich in cysteine residues, forms extensive disulfide bonds with hair keratins, contributing to the rigidity and strength of the hair shaft.

KRTAP4-4 is also known as KAP4.13, KAP4.4, KRTAP4-13, KRTAP4.13, KRTAP4.4.
