KRTAP2-3

Description

The KRTAP2-3 (keratin associated protein 2-3) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 17.

KRTAP2-3 is found in the hair cortex, where it forms part of the interfilamentous matrix that surrounds hair keratin intermediate filaments. This protein is crucial for the formation of a strong and resilient hair shaft. Its extensive disulfide bonds, formed with cysteine residues in hair keratins, contribute to this structural integrity.

KRTAP2-3 is also known as KAP2.3, KAP2.4, KRTAP2-4, KRTAP2.3, KRTAP2.4.
