KRT33A
Description
The KRT33A (keratin 33A) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 17.
Keratin, type I cuticular Ha3-I is a protein encoded by the KRT33A gene in humans. It belongs to the keratin gene family and is specifically a type I hair keratin. These genes are clustered on chromosome 17q12-q21 and share the same transcription direction. As a type I hair keratin, it's an acidic protein that forms heterodimers with type II keratins to create hair and nails.
KRT33A is also known as HA3I, Ha-3I, K33A, KRTHA3A, Krt1-3, hHa3-I.
