KRT31
Description
The KRT31 (keratin 31) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 17.
KRT31 gene encodes a protein that belongs to the keratin family. This protein is an acidic type I hair keratin and forms hair and nails by heterodimerizing with type II keratins. The type I hair keratins are found in a specific region on chromosome 17q12-q21 and are all transcribed in the same direction.
KRT31 is also known as HA1, Ha-1, KRTHA1, hHa1.
