KREMEN2
Description
The KREMEN2 (kringle containing transmembrane protein 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 16.
KREMEN2 acts as a receptor for Dickkopf proteins, working alongside DKK1/2 to suppress Wnt/beta-catenin signaling. This suppression is achieved by promoting the internalization (endocytosis) of Wnt receptors LRP5 and LRP6. During limb development, KREMEN2 plays a vital role by attenuating Wnt signaling, enabling proper limb patterning. Moreover, KREMEN2 can negatively regulate bone formation.
KREMEN2 is also known as KRM2.
